Atlanta Events including Business Networking events please check out www.AtlantaEvent.com.

Today we talked to business owners in several industries who are doing some very creative things..

First up we had on Stu Lustman who is from Baltimore,
MD where he received his undergrad degree from
the University of
Maryland and his MBA from
Loyola College of Baltimore. Stu started his financial career as a stock
broker, analyst and trader before moving on to financial project work including
an asset/liability management for a regional bank.

After doing these various projects, Stu went back to finance
after his MBA (a degree held by less than 10% of his industry peers), this time
commercial finance so he could learn about working with debt and helping small
business owners. Stu started Southern Lending Solutions, LLC about 2.5
years ago so he could help these small businesses who were clearly being
ignored by the big banks. For more information about Stu and his company please go to his website www.southernlendingsolutions.com

Next up we had on Annette Curtiss with Sales Diagonal. Sales Diagonal was founded in 2007 and they are a Business to Business Consulting
firm that specializes in developing and executing High Impact Value Driven
strategies to increase sales revenue. They focus on increasing an organizational's
sales revenue by decreasing poor workflow, improving productivity, improving
processes and identifying sales tools. The firm's focus is on People, Process
and Technology.

Sales Diagonal Consultants are experienced in the
Health Care, Manufacturing, Financial Services, Technology, Insurance, Software
and State and Local Government sectors. The consultants have big-company
experience and have refined and applied their processes to deliver successful
strategies to businesses of all sizes. For more information about Annette and her firm please go to her website www.salesdiagonal.com

Next we had on Doug Billian with Southern Silver.

Southern Silver specializes in new and vintage sterling
silver flatware and serving pieces. Thereâs also a wholesale stainless steel
implement (serving piece âbladesâ without the handles) piece of business thatâs
pretty meaningful.

Southern Silver has lots of potential growth areas, so please let me know if
there are any sterling silver pieces you think might add value to the customer
experienceâ baby gifts, picture frames, corporate gifts, etc.

Southern Silver will not be operating a retail shop, but please visit them online
at www.southernsilver.com.

And finally we closed the show with Anand Goel, CEO with Optimized Payments Consulting.

He talked about how they leverage their intimate knowledge of Interchange and
merchant services practices while helping businesses that annually process over
$5 million in non-cash sales ensure they are getting the best possible value
from their payment providers. Optimized Payments does NOT sell credit card
processing services and are not aligned with any payment processor,
reseller, network or equipment vendor. Their allegiance rests solely with their
clients.

Their clients are very busy, and they find navigating the intricacies of pricing,
interchange and fees to be time consuming and confusing. Optimized Payments
uses a proprietary methodology to identify and implement the appropriate savings strategies for
acceptance of all payment types, from credit and debit cards, to electronic
checks and gift cards.

They also have a no-risk approach to every client engagement. If
Optimized Payments doesnât deliver measurable results to their clients' your bottom line they the client does not pay a fee. For more information please check out his website www.optimizedpmts.com

morning we had on Katy Elder, Manager of the Employee Volunteer Program at The Home Depot Foundation. And Kate Lee, former Manager of Community Affairs at The Home Depot. They spoke about corporate philanthropy.

Both Katy and Kate spoke at length about the importance of being a good corporate citizen. This does not always mean writing big checks either. There are lots of ways companies help their communities. It might be money, but it also might be having employees volunteer their time.

Katy talked about some of the programs Home Depot is involved in including their KaBoom program that builds playgrounds in under-served communities, their Hands on Schools program and their tree planting program as well. For more information about the philanthropy that The Home Depot is involved in and to see if they can help your group please go to their website www.homedepotfoundation.org.

Kate explained that she now provides consulting in Community and Public Affairs for small to mid-sized companies. She teaches companies how philanthropy can help their bottom line. Being a good corporate citizen shows your customers that you "do good" and customers appreciate that. It also improves employee morale, retention and recruitment. For more information about Kate please email her at katelee @ earthlink.net.

Since it is National Volunteer month you should explore some of the ways your company can get involved. One great resource for companies of all sizes is the Metro Atlanta Corporate Volunteers Council, their website is www.macvc.org

Next up we had Jim Aden with PlantMakers. PlantMakers has developed a green and eco-friendly way to grow live plants without dirt and water so they can easily be shipped by UPS or FedEx anywhere in the country at prices below a typical FTD offering. Jim was on explaining their brand new fund-raising initiative. Organizations can order plants on-line on a custom portal created just for them and 25% of all revenues generated throughout the year goes back to the organization. For more information about how you can get involved please go to their website www.GoGreenPlanters.Atlanta.com

Also if

morning we had on marketer Bernadette Peters, owner of Natural Marketing Services and Mike Wittenstein, Chief Experience Officer with Storyminers.

Bernadette started us off by explaining that her passion is to help businesses attract clients and build
strong relationships. One of her beliefs is that the holy grail of marketing is
to not have to do it . . . however realistically a successful business can hope
to discover marketing initiatives that are at least semi-automated.

She thinks that small business owners should always test their marketing before rolling out extensive campaigns. She comes from a direct marketing background and feels that each piece should have some sort of tracking device, that may be a coupon, a backline phone number or a unique url. For more information about Bernadette and her firm please go to her website www.naturalmarketingservices.com

Next up we had on Mike Wittenstein, CEO (Chief Experience Officer) of Storyminers.

Storyminers help you find out what are your customers are privately saying about their experiences with
your company. They help you discover the factors (often surprising) that would vault you past
the competition. With Mike's and the rest of his team's help you'll be able to hear the real voices of your
customers.

Mike explained that meaningful customer experiences occur when your company puts
the things customers care most about at the heart of your brand, then
designs in the capability to deliver on-brand experiences every time. He believes that a business should make the right promise to their customers for the right reasons and then keep that promise. morning we have Part 2 in our series about how to make your medical practice more profitable and run smoother.

First we had on Iris Grimm creator of the Balanced Physician
Success Program.

The Balanced Physician program is an intense,
action-oriented program that addresses the interpersonal and personal
challenges of physicians and teaches them the skills to: Control the stress that they face daily; Feel energized and positive at the end of the day when they
get home to their family; Be able to have time for themselves their golf game or
favorite hobby without neglecting their family; Take their patient service to a higher level with a highly
motivated and satisfied staff and realize their expectations of building a successful practice
that makes a difference to their patients.

Increasingly, healthcare organizations realize the
importance of programs that address interpersonal skills, behavior and the
personal performance of physicians.

Long-lasting change and improvements of these important
skills cannot be achieved through an individual presentation; they need to have
effective follow-through. For more information please go to her website
www.balancedphysican.com

Next we had on Ann Schaeker with SurgiMed Services. In
today's modern practice, computers and software should alleviate all the
hassles of complicated and tedious business processes. Unfortunately, practices
quickly find they lack the knowledge, personnel, and time to efficiently manage
their systems and their cash flow begins to spiral out of control. There are
few doctors that enjoy this aspect of their practice & even fewer that can
afford the time to become further involved in billing, administration, &
staff management.

SurgiMed  Services offers your practice a real solution, in a convenient and
affordable way. We are a full service billing and practice management company
working to serve today's Health Care Professional. SMSI has over 50 years
combined experience in insurance filing and billing for medical practices. They have a highly trained staff of specialists who can provide an immediate boost
in cash flow and reduced AR for you. Most importantly they allow your staff to
concentrate on patient care by freeing them from the frustrating and
time-consuming headaches of billing and administration. SurgiMed  Services is not only limited to assisting Medical practices but also
offers powerful and comprehensive solutions to Dentists, Optometrists,
Chiropractors & other healthcare related professionals. For more
information, please go to her website www.surgimedservices.com

And finally we had on Michael McHughes with Pinnacle Products & Services. Founded in 1995, Pinnacle is a printing distributor providing business forms, filings systems,

morning we talked about how to make your medical practice more profitable and run smoother.

First we had on Seth M. Cohn with Capstone Financial Partners. Seth is a comprehensive financial planner that specializes in representing healthcare professionals and their practices. He represents physicians in all facets of their careers from: training to practice; from practice to practice and from practice into retirement. Seth has taught at Emory University, Mercer University Health Systems, Morehouse University and The Atlanta Medical Center. He frequently lectures on financial planning, disability insurance, cash flow analysis and retirement planning. He is a regular speaker at various medical association conferences in and around Atlanta. For more information please email him at sethcohn @ finsvcs.com or call him at 404-926-1317

Next we had on Jeffry Finkel, President of Overhead Reduction Services. Jeff has been called the Clark Howard in his field. He regularly helps physicians lower their costs on various overhead expenses such as: credit card clearing, telecommunication and bank fees to name a few. He offers a unique proposition to the physician whereas he only gets paid on a contingency basis if he can lower fees. Over the years he has been helping physicians contain their overhead - saving them thousands of dollars in junk fees and cost reductions each year. For more information please contact Jeff directly at 404-995-9112 or by email at finkelj @ bellsouth.net

And finally we had on Max Smith, VP of Operations with Extension Express. Extension
Express is a full service accounts receivable and
                              bad-debt collection management firm specializing

Express has been in the accounts receivable and collection
business for over sixteen years. Because they collect
only in the medical industry, they understand the relationship between doctor and patient and are considered a soft core

Joe is the host of a new radio show called Impact of Glycomics that can be heard worldwide every Wednesday at 11:00am EST.

Joe explained that many researchers, physicians, and scientists believe that Glycomics may be the future of health. He said that more and more research institutes and universities around the world are discovering its importance. The Massachusetts Institute of
Technology has declared the science of Glycobiology to be âpossibly one of the
ten greatest breakthroughs in the 21st century.â Part of the reason Joe created his radio show is that information about Glycomics,
though readily available, is not mainstreamed in a way that encourages knowledge sharing.

"Impact of Glycomics" is a radio show dedicated to that
function. "Impact of Glycomics" is the lay person's and the professional's source for scientific knowledge. His shpow will bring together the great minds in this emerging field in order to
share the depth of Glycomics while relating the information
to the average citizen. The Impact of Glycomics show is created to bridge the gap
between the scientists and the eventual end consumer, allowing for acquisition
and understanding of research and the utilization of the new knowledge of the exciting goings on in the science
of Glycomics. Please go Joe's website www.impactofglycomics.com for more information and to listen to the show every Wednesday at 11am EST.

In irder to be a prtner for FLexHR you mustr have over 20 years senior HR leadership experience. Phil has over 30 years experience with comapny's like GE and Pitney-Bowes, so he knows his stuff. He explined to us that today Human Resources compliance can be expensive and complicated. Employers today need a resource to help them be sure they are getting the most for
the money they spend and the most from the employees they hire and FlexHR provides both. He said "We look at things
from both the employerâs point of view and the employeeâ point of
      view and,
we provide both tactical and strategic HR in ways that will benefit your
bottom line." For more information please go to their website www.flexhr.com and look up Phil. He'll be glad to answer any of your questions.

Next up we had on Tim McLellan, CPA with B2B CFO. Tim explained that every company, regardless of its size, needs a Chief
Financial Officer. And since partners with B2B CFO work on a contract basis having a CFO is now affordable to most businesses. He said that they typically work with owners of emerging and mid-market companies with revenues up to $75
million who want to increase cash, profitability, sales and company value. He himself spends half his time working with start-ups and the rest with established businesses. He explained that each has their own set of unique challenges. For more information please look Tim up on his website www.b2bcfo.com

As Children's is a not for profit hospital they are constantly raising funds in order to do help more kids. They spend a lot of the money on technology and research. Four areas they work in are: NeuroTrauma, NeuroOncology, NeuroSpine and Epilepsy. It will be at the W Hotel in Dunwoody and will feature almost 3 dozen of the areas best restaurants sampling some of their favorite dishes.
Alon opened the first Alon's Bakery in 1992 in Virginia Highlands. Over the years, the store expanded in size and scope and now his second location is just a couple of weeks away. Inspired by specialty markets
in Europe and New York, Alon was passionate to
bring a full service gourmet market to the Virginia Highlands. Since it's opening, Alonâs has become a neighborhood

Then we closed the show with Jeff Trump owner of one of Sandy Springs' favorite restaurants, Brooklyn Cafe. Jeff has been in the restaurant business for a long time. Before purchasing Brooklyn Cafe he was with the Houston's
Restaurant organization for 16 years. Jeff is a big believer in giving back and has been instrumental in raising over $100,000 for local

Here are 3 ways Sean built his network 1- Searched on companies he had worked for and schools he had attended to reconnect with people he had known in the past 2- Looked through his own CardScan contact list for people he had met though Chamber events. 3-Searched for people he had met while doing business including current clients.

Sean also shared some great tips about common mistakes people make on Linked-In...like using the canned text they provide when sending out connection invitations rather than personalizing their message. up we had on George Hammond, with Advanced Coastal Technologies, inventors of the Water Tube. The Water Tube is your own personal water supply. It is made from 35oz German Vinyl with heat welded seams. It is 15 feet long and holds 450 gallons of water. You simply hook it up to the downspout of your gutter system and it automatically collects the rainwater during every downpour. The Water Tube can be easily hidden in any garden by covering it with pinestraw. Add an electric sprinkler pump and feel guilt free watering your lawn and garden. This is a must have addition to any environmentally conscious home. You can get it online at their website www.advancedcoastaltechnologies.com for just $389.

Next
up we had on entrepreneur Allan Hess, creator of Airport Booties. Airport Booties help you navigate that germ filled area in the security section of the airport. You know when you take your shoes off to walk through the metal detector you are walking where countless other germ carrying strangers have walked before you. Airport Booties help you safely pass through without catching anything. Companies, like Park N Fly, put their logo on the Airport Booties and give them away for free to their customers. Allan also works with the Wrapkins people to distribute this innovative product. The wrapkin is a koosie-like napkin that wraps around a bottle or glass to sop up all the condensation. For more information about Airport booties please go to their website www.airportbooties.com and to find out more about Wrapkins please go to their website www.wrapkins.com

And

patent practitioners, marketing consultants, and other innovative
persons who like to get together, share accomplishments and concerns,
help promote invention and innovation, and provide guidance to members
without breaching implied confidentiality.

They both wanted everyone to know of the open casting call for PBS' Everyday Edisons show on January 12. For more information about that please go to the website www.everdayedisons.com

Tom is also the inventor of the Book Bug www.thebookbug.com and
Dave invented the Word Tipster www.davesavage.com

For more information about the Inventors Association of Georgia please go to their website www.georgiainventors.com

Also if
